Making Life Easier is a program of multiple services offered as a benefit to eligible employees, their dependent family members (regardless of where they live) and anyone living in the employee’s household.

The primary services that fall under Making Life Easier (MLE) fall into five categories:

  • Personal counseling for individual, marital and family problems
  • Legal consultation
  • Financial consultation
  • Adult and elder care consultation and referral
  • Child care consultation and referral
Eligible family members are those who are dependent on the employee (for example, covered by the employee’s medical insurance or claimed as dependents on IRS forms) or who live in the employee’s household.
What you discuss with your MLE representative is confidential unless you make him or her aware you are at risk of harming yourself or someone else.
No. In fact, if you want or need your supervisor to be involved in something related to your job you should contact the KC EAP. The representatives of MLE will not involve your supervisor even with your request to do so.
Generally, appointments can be arranged within 2 – 4 business days but it can also depend on such variables as when you call to make the appointment, the nature of the issue for which you are seeking help, where you want to see someone, and the times you are available.
You will always talk to a Masters or Doctoral level, licensed mental health professional. Who that is will depend on what your needs are and a number of other factors that will be discussed at the time of your initial call.
MLE has a network of approved providers in place. Call 1-888-874-7290 to find out if the counselor or consultant you want to see is in their network.
No, never. If you have an employee you think is in dire need of help you should contact the King County Employees Assistance Program as soon as possible.
It depends. You can talk to an attorney in person or on the phone. All financial consultations are done over the phone, mail or e-mail.
Those services are also provided via telephone, mail and e-mail by professionals in those fields. You will be helped according to your needs and possibly referred to local resources if appropriate.
One of the great advantages of the MLE program is that it has counselors throughout the United States. There is a large network of affiliate providers in Washington state and well spread-out to provide geographically accessible services.
You can call to talk to a crisis counselor 24 hours, 7 days a week. To talk to a consultant or make an appointment with a counselor it is best to call between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
There is one number to call for all the services under MLE 1-888-874-7290.
