Statement on Hurricane Harvey

Summary

Right now, the best thing to do is to support organizations responding to the crisis and conducting rescue on the ground.

Story

Hurricane Harvey has brought overwhelming levels of rain and flooding to millions of people throughout the Gulf Coast from Texas to Louisiana. The hearts of King County’s residents go out to the people in these communities experiencing disruption and devastation.

As we view the pictures of the people struggling to stay safe and escape the flood waters, many of us are looking to ways to help. Right now, the best thing to do is to support organizations responding to the crisis and conducting rescue on the ground. The following organizations are accepting donations specifically for Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.

American Red Cross
Global Giving
Americares
Salvation Army
Samaritan's Purse
Best Friends Animal Society

The recovery will go on for weeks and months to come, and King County will continue to offer our aid and support to those living through this disaster.
