King County Road Services - Roads maintenance services
About the Roads Maintenance SectionThe Roads Maintenance Section is responsible for the ongoing maintenance, repair, and small-scale construction of over 1,800 miles of roadway, 187 bridges (six are co-owned with other jurisdictions) and approximately 50 miles of unpaved roads within unincorporated King County. It is our mission to enhance and maintain the roadways in an efficient and environmentally responsible manner. As part of this effort, the Roads Maintenance Section is striving to be a leader and environmental steward, through the development and implementation of the Regional Roads Maintenance Endangered Species Act (ESA) Program Guidelines. These guidelines ensure that sound environmental practices are used when performing work in the road right-of-way. The Roads Maintenance Section also provides miscellaneous road-related services to eight contract cities and other government agencies. In an effort to provide for safe road travel, all roads in unincorporated King County receive 24-hour emergency response assistance, as do roads in selected cities under contract with King County.
