New election ballot drop boxes approved by the King County Council will make it easier for voters in South King County to cast their ballots in future elections.
The Metropolitan King County Council today approved the placement of ballot drop-off boxes in neighborhoods throughout South King County to increase access to voting.
“Providing secure and accessible elections is a fundamental responsibility of county government and I am glad there will be more ballot drop boxes all over South King County,” said Councilmember Dave Upthegrove. “I worked hard to make sure that these drop boxes will best serve our diverse communities and look forward to seeing them installed during the coming months.”
Those new locations are:
- Highline College
- Kent East Hill (Exact location TBD)
- Maleng Regional Justice Center (MRJC)-Kent
- Valley View Library
- Burien City Hall
- Renton Highlands (Exact location TBD)
With the transition to vote by mail, the Council requested a plan from the Department of Elections to increase the return of ballots by voters. These locations are part of the 43 drop box sites selected as part of the requested plan.
All of these locations will be in place for the November general election.
