Dunn Congratulates New Director of Department of Local Services

Summary

The Department of Local Services is a newly created cabinet-level department that aims to respond to local needs and that will continue the County’s emphasis on improving the delivery of county services to the rural and suburban unincorporated communities of King County.

Story

Metropolitan King County Councilmember Reagan Dunn offered his congratulations to the new director of the King County Department of Local Services. The Council’s appointment of John Taylor as the Director of the new department is an important step towards a fully-functioning department, focused on bringing more efficient services to the residents of unincorporated King County.

“I congratulate John Taylor on his confirmation and look forward to continuing to work hard to bring the unincorporated communities of King County the services they deserve,” Dunn said. “The creation of the Department of Local Services is a welcome next step in the county’s efforts to be responsive to our unincorporated residents. I look forward to working with the new department and its director in serving unincorporated communities.”

The Department of Local Services is a newly created cabinet-level department that aims to respond to local needs and that will continue the County’s emphasis on improving the delivery of county services to the rural and suburban unincorporated communities of King County. Because unincorporated King County areas have no city councils, King County functions as their “local” government.

“I am honored to be appointed by the Executive and the King County Council, and I look forward to working with Councilmember Dunn and the entire Council to improve service delivery for all residents of unincorporated King County,” said Taylor.

Director Taylor holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Vermont, and has worked for King County since 2013 as Assistant Director of the Water and Land Resource Division. He has worked for multiple other local governments, including in Vermont and Seattle.
