Story

Violet the goat and her owner James Graham were granted the honor today of being named “King Critter,” crowned by King County Councilmember Reagan Dunn alongside Enumclaw Mayor Jan Molinaro.

“The Fair is a special and time-honored tradition here in King County, and it’s wonderful to see it back in it’s true form this year,” said Dunn. “Congratulations to this year’s winning critter Violet and her owner James Graham!”

The Critter Crowning marks opening day of the King County Fair, which runs from July 15-18 this year. The Fair hours are 10 AM – 10 PM on Thursday, July 15 – Saturday, July 17, and 10 AM – 6 PM on Sunday July 18th—the Fair’s final day. Now in its 158th year, it’s the oldest fair west of the Mississippi.

“We are extremely pleased to have the King County Fair back in 2021 for everyone to come out and enjoy. The Fair continues to be a great source for our children to be involved with the showing of their animals, as seen with the Critter Crowning today,” said Enumclaw Mayor Jan Molinaro. “I would like to thank King County Councilmember Reagan Dunn for his continued support of the Enumclaw Expo Center over the many years he has been a Councilmember. Make plans to visit the Fair today through Sunday!”

New to this year’s Fair is the Vine to Wine Walk, an exhibit that will be open every day. Other offerings include 4H exhibitors, monster truck rides, barrel racing, a rodeo, and of course fair food!

Admission includes all shows and concerts. Tickets can be purchased at the gates or in advance online at a discounted price. Ride tickets and wristbands are sold separately. Military and senior discounts are offered.

Admission for adults ages 13 and up is $10, $5 for kids ages 5-12, and free for kids ages five and under.
