Story

Councilmember Jeanne Kohl-Welles issued the following statement Wednesday after the Budget and Fiscal Management Committee – of which she is chair – voted to approve the seventh round of emergency funding in response to COVID-19 and send it to full Council:

“I am very pleased that the King County Council’s Budget and Fiscal Management Committee voted to advance the 7th COVID budget as amended today for final action at next Tuesday's Council meeting.

“At more than $600 million, this is the largest supplemental budget in the history of King County. These funds will be crucial in providing much-needed support around public health, housing stability, food insecurity, and economic recovery.

“I applaud Executive Constantine for crafting such a comprehensive budget, and I look forward to continuing to work collaboratively with my Council colleagues on additional amendments to make sure the budget is responsive to the needs throughout King County.”
