October 2020: Best Starts for Kids Assessment Report
In 2020, Best Starts completed an assessment of program implementation and outcomes since the inception of the levy. This report includes: an assessment of how Best Starts levy proceeds are being allocated, the status of strategy and program implementation, design or policy changes, challenges and outcomes; an analysis of the context and impact of the Best Starts levy–funded goals, strategies, and programs; and an analysis of how Best Starts investments have impacted the advancement of equity and social justice.
March 2021: Themes from 2020 Community Conversations
Over the course of October and November 2020, Best Starts for Kids staff and community partners co-hosted a series of thirteen community conversations across a broad range of geographic and cultural communities in King County to listen and learn from Best Starts Champions, partners, and providers. This Community Conversations report shares back what we heard from communities across King County on what went well and what was challenging in the first levy, and what improvements should be considered.

April 2021: Impacts of COVID-19 on the King County Homeless Response System: Using data to inform current and future housing strategies.
National Human Services Data Consortium 2021 Spring Conference presentation. In this session, we discuss a recent analysis using our inflow-outflow methodology and dashboards to understand the homeless response system impacts of COVID-19. Findings suggest a complex relationship between how the pandemic changed system inflow, outflow, lengths of stays, bed capacity, and disproportionality in how these effects were felt by communities of color, older individuals, and adults without children.

April 2021: Impact of Hotels as Non-Congregate Emergency Shelters.
National Human Services Data Consortium 2021 Spring Conference presentation. A team of researchers from the University of Washington and the King County Department of Community and Human Services used a mixed methods approach to analyze the effects and outcomes on individuals who were moved from shelters to non-congregate hotel settings during the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic.
