The Green River reached a Phase 2 flood alert level late Monday evening, Feb. 28, with minor flooding possible in low-lying areas upstream of Auburn. Story

The King County Flood Warning Center has issued Phase 2rsz_kcfcd_21 flood alert for the Green River, where minor flooding could occur in low-lying areas along the river upstream of Auburn. The Green River joins a long list of rivers and streams that the Flood Warning Center is monitoring for potential minor to moderate flooding as a result of heavy rainfall across the county.

As of 10 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 28, the Green River near Auburn was flowing at 7,070 cubic feet per second (CFS), exceeding the Phase 2 flood alert threshold of 7,000 CFS for the Green River. At these flows, lowland flooding could occur in the Green River Valley upstream of Auburn.

The Snoqualmie and Tolt rivers remain at Phase 3 flood alert levels, with moderate widespread flooding possible, including numerous road closures. The White River and Issaquah Creek remain at Phase 2 flood alert levels, meaning some minor flooding could occur in localized areas. Find real-time river level information at kingcounty.gov/flood.

King County Flood Warning Center employees are monitoring stream gauges and weather reports to provide updated information on river conditions as necessary. Flood patrol crews are monitoring conditions from the field and reporting their findings back to the Flood Warning Center.

During river flooding events, King County serves as a clearinghouse for information on flood conditions, operating a recorded message center with continuous updates of river gauge readings and flood phases and other related information.
