Public involvement
The Solid Waste Division offers many public involvement and volunteer opportunities in the county's solid waste service area, which includes unincorporated King County and all cities in the county, except for Seattle and Milton.
Residents can:
- Participate in Public Meetings related to Transfer Station Construction Projects and long-range planning efforts such as the Waste Export Plan.
- Participate in volunteer activities that help residents make informed decisions about preventing waste and using resources wisely.
- Take a tour of a solid waste facility.
Public meetings
The Solid Waste Divisionde (SWD) holds public meetings as part of its public involvement process for major capital and planning projects. Public meetings provide an opportunity for the public, facility neighbors, community groups, city representatives and other key stakeholders to actively participate in those projects. This helps foster a collaborative relationship, allows for an exchange of information and ideas and can improve a project's outcome.
Please see the Solid Waste Division calendar for a listing of upcoming public meetings related to transfer station projects and other upcoming SWD public meetings.
