Fall season is here! Amp up your closet, shop sustainably

ThreadCycle

Wanting to try all the new fashion trends but don’t have the closet space, or don’t want to spend a fortune? Let us show you how shopping sustainably and disposing of your old clothes, in any condition can save you time, closet space and money this fall season.

Buying Thoughtfully
Fashion can cost a pretty penny. Fashion trends that come and go, can take a dent at the wallet, be worn once or twice and then left in the back of the closet. The production of making new clothing takes natural resources and leads to overconsumption.

When buying clothes here are a few tips:

1. Buy only what you need. Try the 30-day challenge, or the project 333.
2. Mend clothes and shoes that you already have.
3. Purchase items that are timeless, clothing that will extend on more than one season, or that you can style multiple different ways.
4. Buy second hand clothes, shoes, linens to extend their lives, and help stop the overproduction of new materials. Need some advice on where to go? Here are some tips from thrift shop expert Macklemore.

Ready to dispose of old clothes? Threadcycle them!
Make use of your old clothes and make room for the new fall season. Donate your clothing and help others to purchase your clothes, and extend their life, to keep them out of our landfill. Ripped items become great cleaning rags, or can be used to patch clothing. Now more than ever, you can recycle and donate your ripped, teared, stained and single paired items at one of our collection sites!

Plastic Bottles

Ever wonder what's made from recycled plastics?

By recycling you are making a great impact and creating a second life for your waste. Here are a few item's second lives:

  • Carpets
  • Clothing
  • Plastic lumber for decking and outdoor furniture
  • New bottles, tugs, and jugs

Keep up the great job and keep your plastics alive!

Stop being forgetful, shop smart!

Shopping List

Ever left home and forgot your shopping list? Don't use a shopping list, but would like to start? A shopping list can help prevent double buying and save you money.

Tip: Write the amount needed next to each item and how much you already have.

No time for a list? Take a picture of your fridge before leaving the house so you can see what’s missing.
