Visiting South Plant

Find information about tours, educational programming, and our working farm and neighboring park at South Plant.

We offer many ways for the community to come and learn more about South Plant, the wastewater treatment process, and the importance of clean water.

Educational programming

We offer K-12 education programs, public tours of the treatment plant, and outdoor workshops at CitySoil Farm. Visit our education page to learn more about these programs and view and the events calendar.

WaterWorks Gardens

WaterWorks Gardens is a public park and you can access it anytime without having to visit the plant as part of a specialized tour. This is a place where art, technology, and nature join in a unique way. Along with trails, public art, native plants and wildlife, the ponds and marshes of WaterWorks Gardens filter and clean stormwater from South Plant's 50 acres of roads, parking lots, and hard surfaces.

CitySoil Farm

CitySoil Farm is a unique, 1.5-acre demonstration farm located in a once unused area of the South Plant grounds. The farm serves to cultivate food gardeners and to address food injustice for neighboring communities by providing fresh, local produce accessible to everyone. The farm also uses recycled water and compost made from Loop biosolids. Every year we partner with White Center Food Bank to grow and provide culturally relevant produce (up to over 5,500 pounds) to the community.
