King County Elections To Open Special Filing Period for Select Offices
King County Elections will hold a special candidate filing period for those offices that drew no candidates during the regular filing period in May 2023.

Online & mail voter registration deadline for August Primary Election – July 24, 2023
The deadline to register to vote online or by mail (received, not postmarked) is Monday, July 24. After the deadline has passed, voters can still register to vote, update their registration or signature, receive a replacement ballot, or use an assistive device at King County Elections Headquarters in Renton or at one of our Vote Centers located across the county.

King County Elections Mails Primary Election Ballots
King County Elections (KCE) mailed approximately 1.4 million ballots for the August 1, 2023 Primary to registered voters across King County today. KCE is projecting 35% turnout for this election. Turnout in both the 2021 and 2019 Primary Elections reached 35%.

Translated ballots and voting materials will be available in Russian and Somali for the very first time in the upcoming August Primary Election. For many years, King County Elections (KCE) has provided ballots, voting materials, customer service, correspondence, and voter education in Chinese, Korean, Spanish, and Vietnamese.

King County Elections and the Seattle Foundation Grant Over $1 Million to Community-Based Organizations for Civic Engagement and Voter Registration
The Voter Education Fund is a government, philanthropic, and community partnership that aims to increase voter turnout and registration in historically disenfranchised communities. In the 2023-2024 cycle, King County Elections and Seattle Foundation will provide multi-year grants to 21 organizations and seed-level grants to ten others.

King County Elections to Host Virtual Workshops for Candidates on How to Run for Office
King County Elections (KCE) will host four virtual workshops for those interested in running for office. Information covered will include how to file for office, key deadlines, submitting your local voters’ pamphlet statement, voter lists, and much more. The Public Disclosure Commission (PDC) will join each session to go over basic campaign disclosure requirements.
