King County Benefits, Payroll and Retirement Operations provides a variety of support services to county employees. Highlights of these services include:

  • BenefitsManaging health and insurance enrollment and assistance for more than 13,000 employees
  • Managing health care and dependent care flexible spending accounts
  • Assisting with enrollment in COBRA and retiree benefits
  • Managing Voluntary Employee Benefits Association (VEBA) accounts
  • Supporting the Law Enforcement Officers and Fire Fighters (LEOFF-1) Board
  • RetirementEnrolling new employees in retirement plans administered by the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems (DRS)
  • Managing a county deferred compensation plan and providing educational seminars for members
  • Issuing paychecks for more than 13,000 employees
  • Complying with payroll and regulatory and reporting requirements
