COVID-19-related project enhancements

The COVID-19 pandemic creates new challenges for home-visit care delivery by community health workers. In addition, new basic needs and concerns confronting our patients must be addressed before discussing asthma disease management.

With the enhancement, the project team will update the CHW asthma home-visit program training. CHWs will be trained to support patients in their homes and communities through these enhancements:

• Protocol modifications to support phone and video visits by CHWs, instead of home visits.
  
• Develop video and smartphone-accessible resources about asthma for patients in English and Spanish. These resources can support or substitute CHW visits.
  
• Support the CHW community and their supervisors with new resources about COVID-19.
