The last Plan was completed in 2007 and is outdated. The Plan needs to be updated to incorporate new information, highlight current problems, confront new critical issues and more thoroughly address all OSS throughout King County.

Public Health is convening a Work Group, composed of representatives from:

  • The OSS service industry (pumpers, installers, designers, O&M providers)
  • Relevant city, state and tribal agencies
  • Building industry
  • Homeowners and businesses with OSS (in both cities & unincorporated areas)
  • Public sewer service providers
  • Real estate industry

The Work Group met in the Environmental Health Services section of the Eastgate Public Health Center, at 14350 SE Eastgate Way, Bellevue, WA 98007 on the following dates:

March 22, 2016

April 26, 2016

May 17, 2016

June 28, 2016

July 26, 2016 (cancelled)

August 23, 2016

September 27, 2016: Public comment listening session

The Work Group will explore OSS topics and issues, and provide feedback to Public Health. Public Health staff will draft the Plan update based on that feedback and other information.

The goal of this effort is to develop an updated OSS Management Plan that will be presented to the King County Board of Health for review and adoption, and be used by Public Health to address all OSS in both the cities and unincorporated areas of King County. The updated Plan will help ensure that OSS are properly installed, operated and maintained, and that public health and the environment are protected into the future.
