Vashon Island beaches closed for shellfish harvesting: Paralytic shellfish poison found at unsafe levels
Paralytic shellfish poison has been detected at unsafe levels on Vashon-Maury Island's Quartermaster Harbor beaches. As a result, the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) has closed these areas to recreational shellfish harvest. The commercial harvest is not affected. People should always check the DOH shellfish safety website before harvesting shellfish.
Date change: Free drive-thru back-to-school vaccine and flu clinic set for Oct. 10 rescheduled for Oct. 17 in Kent
Because of anticipated poor weather this weekend, a free drive-thru vaccine clinic for school-aged children and flu clinic for all community members ages 4 and older set for Oct. 10 has been rescheduled for Oct. 17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the ShoWare Center in Kent.

Free drive-thru back-to-school vaccine and flu clinics coming to Kent, Oct. 7 and 10, 2020
King County school-aged children can get the vaccinations required for returning to in-person learning – and all community members ages 4 and older can get a flu shot – at upcoming free vaccination and flu clinics Oct. 7 from noon to 5 p.m., and Oct. 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Kent ShoWare Center.
Two more new COVID-19 testing sites in south King County
Free COVID-19 testing sites will open in Tukwila and Federal Way in the coming days. These sites complement two recently launched testing centers in Renton and Auburn, increasing access to testing across our community.
