King County Council confirms Tricia Davis as Road Services Division Director
The King County Council voted unanimously today to confirm Davis, who was appointed to the position earlier this year. She will oversee the division – part of King County Local Services – that maintains 2,967 lane miles of roads, 182 bridges and other critical infrastructure in the unincorporated areas.

Chambers of commerce, community-based organizations in unincorporated King County can apply for COVID-19 grant of up to $10,000
This new grant program is part of King County’s economic development relief action in response to the COVID-19 public health emergency. Its goal is to support existing chambers of commerce and community-based organizations (CBOs) that provide marketing and technical assistance to small businesses. Interested chambers of commerce and CBOs must apply by 5 p.m., Friday, Oct. 30.

Extreme conditions prompt Fire Marshal to issue Stage 2 burn ban for King County
King County Fire Marshal Chris Ricketts has issued a Stage 2 burn ban for King County, which prohibits all outdoor recreational fires. Outdoor cooking and heating appliances are limited to approved manufactured gas and charcoal units only.

Small businesses will get another opportunity to apply for a King County Small Business Assistance Grant starting on Friday, Aug. 21. Businesses will have two weeks to apply. These grants are for businesses that have been hurt by the COVID-19 pandemic and are located in unincorporated parts of King County (outside of cities). The updated requirements mean more businesses are potentially eligible for grant money than during the first round.

King County returns for phase two of Dockton seawall repairs on Vashon Island Aug. 31-Sept. 17
King County Road Services will complete the second of two phases of work to fill sinkholes and repair damaged areas of the 103-year-old seawall located along Dockton Road SW. The first phase of repairs, completed in late 2019, addressed similar work. Phase two begins Monday, August 31 and lasts through September 17. A signed detour will be provided, local access will be maintained.

Two full road closures and night paving work coming to Redmond Ridge/Novelty Hill Road, near Duvall starting July 6 through August
King County will close a section of NE Novelty Hill Road from July 6 through July 24 for slide repairs, and a section of West Snoqualmie Valley Road NE in August for culvert replacement work. The County also will conduct nighttime single lane closures in the same area for paving work during late June and July.
