Fire and special event permit process - Building and land use

Find out how to apply for permits involving flammable liquid tanks, fireworks, fire systems, and special events.


Permit for installing and decommissioning flammable liquid tanks, such as propane/LPG tanks.

Applications

For new or relocated fuel tanks, you must get gas piping permit from the Seattle King County Department of Public Health, Environmental Health

Apply online at the MyBuildingPermit website. Navigate to storage tanks after selecting the project and activity type beneath the fire category.

Inspections

We must inspect work to ensure code compliance.

Gas piping inspection must occur prior to inspection of your LPG tank permit, call 206-296-4932 to schedule an inspection.

This permit is not for all fireworks use. It is illegal to sell or use consumer fireworks in unincorporated King County.

A permit to erect a temporary tent or membrane structure in excess of 400-square-feet in size or an aggregate area of multiple tents of 700-square-feet.

Applications

Apply online at the MyBuildingPermit website. After selecting King County as the jurisdiction, select Fire, then Any Project Type, Special, and finally Special Event.
