Obtaining Public Records from DPD

These are instructions to request records held by the King County Department of Public Defense. To request records from other departments, please go to those departments' websites directly. You can find a list of King County departments here.

To request public records from the Department of Public Defense (DPD) under the provisions of the Washington State Public Disclosure Law (RCW 42.56, external link), please complete one of the following procedures:

  • Download the Public Records Request form via Word or PDF

OR

  • Send a letter that includes all of the following information: the requester’s name, address, phone number and email address AND a clear and detailed description of the specific records being requested.

OR

  • Send an email that includes the following information: the requester’s name, address, phone number and email address AND a clear and detailed description of the specific records being requested.

Send your email to the attention of the Public Records Officer at mon-cheri.barnes@kingcounty.gov

A written response to your request will be issued within five business days from the receipt of your request.
