The King County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) is seeking applicants to serve on the newly formed KCSO Community Advisory Board.  The purpose of the KCSO Community Advisory Board is to gather a diverse set of public safety experts and advocates to support and advise King County Sheriff Patricia Cole-Tindall on creating a just, dynamic, and responsive public safety system.  Objectives of the Community Advisory Board include:

• Advise the King County Sheriff on policy concepts and implementation;
• Serve as the community voice on public safety and law enforcement issues; and
• Create a forum for trust building between law enforcement and community.

The Community Advisory Board will have between 10 and 15 members, drawn from the following categories:

• Unincorporated Rural King County
• Unincorporated Urban King County
• Muckleshoot Indian Tribe
• KCSO Contract Cities*
• Community Groups
• Business Groups

Additionally, the Community Advisory Board will strive for a diverse set of participants, including representatives from BIPOC communities, youth, and those with prior justice system involvement.

Individuals interested in serving on the Community Advisory Board should submit a letter of interest, explaining their desire and qualifications for serving on the Board.  The applicant should also identify in their letter which of the membership categories identified above they represent.

 *Contract Cities:  Beaux Arts, Burien, SeaTac, Carnation, Covington, Kenmore, Maple Valley, Muckleshoot Indian Tribe, Newcastle, Sammamish, Shoreline, Skykomish, Woodinville.
