Burglars arrested due to alert neighbor

(Covington) Three burglars were arrested today at a house in Covington after an alert neighbor saw them prowling around a neighbor’s house. Prior to police arriving the three men had broken through a glass door at the rear of the house and were inside. When police arrived one of the men was arrested as he was coming out the front door and the other two were found hiding inside. (C16014721)

Today about 11:30am an alert neighbor called 911 to report three suspicious men who walked in to the back yard of a neighbor’s home in the 20000 block of SE 260 Pl. Within minutes of the call King County Sheriff’s Office Guardian One and Deputies from Covington PD, Maple Valley PD, and unincorporated King County surrounded the house.  The men had broken a rear glass door and entered the house.

The neighbor contacted the homeowner and confirmed that no one should have been inside the house. One suspect was arrested as he tried to flee out the front of the house and two more were arrested after being found hiding inside.

The entire home had been ransacked and valuables were loaded into backpacks.  The three men, two ages 19 and the third 18 years old, were booked into King County Jail for investigation of Burglary.

Citizens are the eyes and ears of law enforcement. This is a great example of how knowing who your neighbors are,  knowing how to reach them in the event of an emergency, and calling 911 when something seems out of place is so critical to preventing and solving crime.
