Armed suicidal woman shot by police

(Muckleshoot Reservation) A woman armed with a handgun was shot and killed by deputies when they responded to a report of a suicidal woman with a firearm. Deputies went to woman’s house located in the 15800 block of SE 382 Pl.

King County Sheriff’s deputies received information that a suicidal woman with two small children was armed with a rifle on the Muckleshoot Reservation.  Deputies arrived at the woman’s house in the 15800 block of SE 382nd Pl just after 6:30pm Friday.

Deputies knocked on the door to the residence repeatedly with no response.  Deputies said the children were running around in the house but no one answered the door.   Two deputies entered the house to check the welfare of the woman and children.  They found the woman inside the house armed with a handgun.  Both deputies fired at the woman and she was struck at least once.   Aid responded and the woman, 23, was pronounced dead at the scene.

More information will be released about what led up to the shooting when the deputies provide their statements to investigators.  One of the deputies is an 8 year veteran assigned to the Muckleshoot Reservation and the other is King County deputy with 3 years experience.

Both deputies have been placed on paid administrative leave during the investigation per department policy.
