Programs and projects

Bus Base Expansion

Metro created a bus base expansion program to meet the current and future transit demand of our growing region. It will allow us to house and maintain our buses more efficiently and convert to an all-electric bus fleet by 2040.

East Link Connections

A coordinated, co-led process for improving transit connections throughout the Eastside as Link light rail service expands.

Eastlake Layover Facility

Creating a layover facility along Eastlake Avenue E to accommodate bus operators' rest breaks, ensuring timely schedules amidst growing demand for pedestrian access and bike lanes.

Lynnwood Link Connections

As the Link light rail extends to Lynnwood, we are adapting bus routes to changing transit needs, enhancing mobility options for communities in northwest King County and southwest Snohomish County.

Madison Street Area

The Madison Street Area project aims to provide riders with more frequent and reliable service to Downtown Seattle, First Hill, Capitol Hill, Central District, and Madison Valley.

South Link Connections

As the Link light rail extends to Federal Way, we are adapting bus routes to changing transit needs, enhancing mobility options for communities in South King County.

Zero-emissions fleet

With a target date of 2035, King County Metro is transitioning to a 100% zero-emissions fleet powered by renewable energy.
