Executive Constantine congratulates King County Council on passing pre-paid ballots

King County Executive Dow Constantine released the following statement after the King County Council approved his supplemental budget request to provide voters with pre-paid ballots this year.

At my first meeting with King County Elections Director Julie Wise, I proposed that we include prepaid postage on our ballots. After two years of work, I thank Director Wise and the King County Council for making this a reality. Here in King County, we want to make sure all people have a voice in their government.

Providing ballots with prepaid postage removes a small but significant barrier to the democratic process in our region. Along with increasing voter education, opening new ballot drop boxes, and printing election materials in multiple languages, prepaid ballots are an important step to getting every eligible voter to participate in every election.
