King County Aquatic Center continues to attract major events to South King County

With the recent announcement that the Big 12 Conference has selected the King County Aquatic Center (KCAC) to host the 2025 Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championships, the Aquatic Center has once again proven itself a world-class aquatic facility and a major economic engine for South King County.

“Since opening in 1990, the Aquatic Center has served as host to numerous high-profile events including the Goodwill Games, the Special Olympics, Pac-12 Swim Championship and US Olympic Team Dive Trials,” said King County Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer, who was instrumental in pushing for the Aquatic Center to be located in South King County. “When we host these events, it’s not only the athletes and their families who benefit from this state-of-the-art facility; the KCAC contributes millions of dollars and hundreds of jobs to the regional economy, attracting thousands of visitors from out-of-state.”

In addition to being a premiere destination for swimming, synchro, water polo and diving competitions, the Aquatic Center is open to the public year-round, 7 days per week for $3-5 per visit. It offers swimming and diving lessons, family swims, senior swims, exercise classes, birthday parties, scuba classes and Red Cross trainings.

Its spectator seating for 2,500 makes the Aquatic Center our country’s second-largest indoor complex and it contains the only indoor, 50-meter swimming pool with platform diving in the state of Washington.
