Councilmember Phillips applauds Governor Inslee’s leadership on transportation
Summary
Story
Metropolitan King County Council Transportation, Economy, and Environment Committee Chair Larry Phillips released the following statement in response to Governor Inslee and King County Executive Constantine’s call for legislative action on a statewide transportation package:“Governor Inslee’s support for a statewide transportation package in 2013, and his commitment to call a special session this November if legislators can reach agreement, is encouraging news for the people of King County. King County and the state face a transportation and economic catastrophe if the inaction continues on a state transportation package.
“Cutting one out of every five buses serving the state’s economic engine is not the right way to grow jobs and improve our quality of life. Letting our roads and bridges crumble in King County and across the state is not the way to achieve a competitive advantage in commerce. Governor Inslee recognizes that, and it’s time that senate legislative leaders do as well.”
