Statement on Hurricane Irma

Summary

With millions left without power across the southeastern United States and a trail of death and catastrophic destruction left across the Atlantic, Hurricane Irma has devastated an entire region

Story

With millions left without power across the southeastern United States and a trail of death and catastrophic destruction left across the Atlantic, Hurricane Irma has devastated an entire region. We are proud of and thank the 80-member Washington Task Force 1, a multi-agency emergency response team, now deployed to Georgia to help with hurricane response.

In the wake of Hurricane Harvey, many continue to look for ways to send support to those affected by the worst storm season in decades. King County encourages those of us who can to visit the Center for International Disaster Information, a part of the United States Agency for International Development, where useful tips on giving are provided. The following organizations are just a few of the many causes accepting donations:

American Red Cross
Global Giving
Direct Impact Fund

King County offers our continued support to those left in the wake of these disasters.
