Parks Grants Overview

King County Parks grants support projects that connect people to the parks, pools, and natural spaces in their communities. By partnering with public agencies and community groups, Parks helps fund efforts to improve local parks, recreation facilities, and programs.

Since the grant program began in 1993, King County Parks has invested more than $150 million in community-driven projects to meet the needs of our growing region.

These grant programs are intended to reach beyond King County Parks’ properties to increase equitable access to public parks and recreation in cities across the County.

Funding mainly comes from the King County Parks Levy, a voter-approved levy that is up for renewal every six years. The 2020–2025 King County Parks Levy created several new grant programs and established the Community Investments Team within Parks to manage them.

Each new Parks Levy updates the size and scope of the grant programs to deliver funding where it is needed most. The 2026-2031 King County Parks Levy has three grant programs distributing up to $74.5 million in competitive grants over the six-year period.
