Dispose of used oil filters in the garbage after you drain the oil from them.

1) Turn the filter upside down to drain the oil into an airtight container. Dispose of the waste and bring it to one of the hazardous waste collection sites listed below.

Allow the drained filter to dry out for two days and dispose of dry, drained oil filters in the garbage.

If the oil cannot be drained from the filter, take it to one of the hazardous waste collection sites listed below.
