Meat Cutter exam
If you cut fresh beef, veal, lamb, and/or pork within a King County meat establishment, you must pass the Meat Cutter exam to get an occupational Meat Cutter license.
The Meat Cutter exam checks for basic skills of meat cutting, handling, care, and knowledge of sanitation and code requirements. You will need to pass the exam to get your meat cutter license. There is a fee for the exam and a separate fee for the license.

- Meat Cutter license: $79
You will need to pay for both the exam and the license at your exam.

The exam is only available by appointment. You will need to call Environmental Health Services to schedule your exam.

On the day of your exam
You will need to download, print, and complete the Meat Cutter’s identification form (17 KB) and bring it with you to take the exam.
The exam will be at the King County Environmental Health office in downtown Seattle.
