Thank you for registering your Automated External Defibrillator(s) (AED) with King County EMS!

Registering your device(s) provides the information needed for 911 dispatchers to direct individuals to the closest publicly accessible AED when there is a cardiac emergency. Your participation helps Seattle and King County continue to achieve one of the highest survival rates in the country for witnessed cardiac arrest!

Next steps for AED owners

Take a few minutes to review the packet of materials you received in the mail from King County EMS. They will enhance your AED ownership by bringing awareness to your AED's presence, help you establish regular maintenance checks, and advise you on what to do if your AED has been used in a cardiac arrest emergency.

If you need additional stickers, window clings, After Use cards, or CPR educational materials, contact laura.miccile@kingcounty.gov

After Use Card

If your AED is used in an emergency, King County EMS requires that event data be downloaded as soon as possible—even if no shock was delivered. Please contact 206-296-4693 or AED@kingcounty.gov to make arrangements for a download. If you use an AED management company please contact EMS first, and then your management company (this data report can be shared upon request). Please attach the event card to your AED case (540 KB) using the zip tie as a reminder of these requirements.

Maintenance Log

Ensuring an AED is ready to save a life starts with regular maintenance. Check your AED on a regular basis and record it on an AED Maintenance Log (MS Excel, 268 KB) — a vital tool that helps track battery life, pad expiration, and overall device readiness. An AED is only effective if it functions properly in an emergency, and regular maintenance ensures that it will work in the event you need to use it. We strongly recommend doing a maintenance check at least once a month. For detailed instructions on how to do this, see our AED Maintenance Guide (7.6 MB).
