ORCA cards allow you to pay for transit faster, save money, and transfer easily between buses, trains, and ferries.
The ORCA funds (E-purse) can be used on most types of public transportation in the Puget Sound region including buses, commuter trains, ferries (walk and bike only), light rail, monorail, and street cars, though different rates apply for each type of transportation.
In most cases, ORCA funds will be available to use within 3 to-5 business days, but if you receive a new $30 ORCA card from one of our partners then you may begin using the card immediately.
No, ORCA funds (E-purse) do not expire and will remain on your card until they are used.
Please contact Mary Herman at mherman@kingcounty.gov for questions about adding incentives to ORCA cards.
