Register for the 2026-2027 school year
King County Metro is partnering with schools around our region to launch new SchoolPool networks for the 2026-2027 school year! SchoolPool connects families who share similar commutes and encourages them to form carpools, walking school buses, or bike trains to and from school.
Sharing the ride can increase school attendance and improve punctuality. Families who share carpooling duties save valuable time, reduce their costs, and lower their stress. In addition, schools with strong carpooling communities have been shown to have less traffic congestion, better air quality and fewer traffic safety issues.
Participating schools
Lakeside School and a subset of Seattle Public Schools (Alki Elementary, Jane Addams Middle School, Roxhill Elementary, South Shore PK-8 and Thurgood Marshall Elementary) have signed up to participate for the 2026-2027 school year.

How it works

Opt in to the program
Parents or guardians must complete the opt-in form to participate in SchoolPool. Your name and email will be used to create an account for you on the SchoolPool platform, RideshareOnline.com (see the FAQ section for more information about the platform).
The name and grade of your child that you provide in this form will only be used by your school to confirm that you are a parent or guardian of a current student.
Seattle Public Schools
Parents with children enrolled in one of the participating schools (Alki Elementary, Jane Addams Middle School, Roxhill Elementary, South Shore PK-8 or Thurgood Marshall Elementary) can sign up using the form below.

Lakeside School
Parents can access the opt-in form via the Lakeside Family Portal. Log in using your Veracross credentials and look for the "Opt-in to SchoolPool" button. Using this form, you will be able to designate yourself and/or another designee who will be authorized to manage rides for your student(s) using a SchoolPool account.

Wait for confirmation
Within 7-10 days of completing the form, you will receive a confirmation email from notifications@rideshareonline.com with instructions for logging in to the SchoolPool platform. Please do not create an account or login to the platform before you receive the email, as your account first needs to be connected to your school's network by the SchoolPool administrator.

Log in and connect
After you log in, you will have an opportunity to enter your child's information (name and grade) and create a trip in the system (the trip you normally take from your home to school).
Once you create a trip, you will automatically be matched with other parents or guardians who share a similar commute to school.
If you find a good match, communicate directly over email to coordinate a carpool or a walking/biking group. Check back often, as your possible matches will increase as more parents join the system!
FAQ
RideshareOnline.com (RSO) is a third-party platform contracted by the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) to facilitate ridesharing in Washington state. The platform is used by transit agencies, city jurisdictions, employers, and members of the public across Washington State. RideshareOnline.com is the platform used for SchoolPool, and creating an account is required to participate in the program.
Only parents with a child currently enrolled in a school can join that school's network. You may be matched with any parent of a child at your school who has also joined SchoolPool and has created a trip that includes a similar origin (home) and destination (school).
Your information, including your name, email, and your child's name and grade, is only visible to other parents if you create a trip and add your child's information (adding your child's name and grade is required to create a trip and match with other parents).
No parent/child information is ever visible to the public — it is only visible to other parents at your school who have joined your school's SchoolPool network.
Parent RideshareOnline.com accounts are disassociated from the SchoolPool network at the end of each school year and all child information (name and grade) is deleted.
Washington RCW 42.56.330 exempts rideshare data (including parent/child names, emails and addresses) from being disclosed during public disclosure requests.
No! Your child can be a passenger in a carpool. You can also find buddies to walk, bike or roll to school together!
No. You can share rides every day or just once a week. You can share round-trip rides or just one-way. You can share rides to the regular school day, before school activities, or after school activities.
Keep trying! Return to the site often and encourage other families at your school to join the program. As SchoolPool catches on, you will likely find new ridematch opportunities

You may also need to coordinate details, such as snacks, allergies, radio preferences and car seats / booster seats.
