Joining a new vanpool group that has not yet picked their van?

Please let your coordinator know you submitted your application. If you are the vanpool or vanshare coordinator, contact the Formations Rideshare Services Rep who has been working with you.

Joining an active vanpool group?

You may begin participating as a rider immediately as long as you have coordinated with the group driver and included the group or vehicle number on your application. Volunteer driver and bookkeeper applicants will receive additional information, noted below. Please check your junk mail or spam folders for any King County Metro email that might get filtered there.

For Community Van volunteer drivers:

Applicants will receive additional information, noted below. Please check your junk mail or spam folders for any King County Metro email that might get filtered there. Please visit the Become a driver section and connect with your Community Transportation Coordinator to let them know you've submitted your application and to request a trip or volunteer to drive on an existing trip (once an approved driver).

If applying to be a bookkeeper:

  1. In the next 2-3 days business days, you will receive an email with next steps regarding the online orientation.
  2. Once you have completed the online orientation, you will be an approved bookkeeper and can begin completing monthly reports for your group.

If applying to be a driver:

  1. In the next 2-3 days business days, you will receive an introduction email with next steps in the driver review process.
  2. Upon completion of driver eligibility application review, (typically 3-5 business days under normal operations), you will be contacted with results and next steps regarding the online orientation (if eligible).
  3. Once you have completed the orientation, you will be an approved driver and can begin driving for your group or as a Community Van driver.
