“This donation will support Renton youth and insures this county resource has a second opportunity to serve residents of King County.”
CryOut!’s afterschool programs and cultural enrichment will now have increased access to the surrounding community after Metropolitan King County Council Vice ChairReagan Dunn’s donation of a retired King County Metro Vanpool Van to the program.
“I’m glad to have been able to match CryOut! with a retired Metro Van,” said Dunn. “This donation will support Renton youth and insures this county resource has a second opportunity to serve residents of King County.”
“I’d like to thank Councilmember Dunn for helping CryOut! in their mission to support Renton youth by securing this van,” said Renton Mayor Denis Law. “I am always glad to see partnerships between our local nonprofits and government.”
CryOut! is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that uses music, dance, arts and workshops to empower the youth, developing them to be leaders who pursue justice for themselves and others oppressed in their communities.
CryOut!’s mission is to:
• Provide a safe place for youth to express themselves creatively,
• Educate youth on issues of poverty, diversity, sexuality and spirituality,
• Promote the value of justice and true freedom in society,
• Develop youth leaders who will speak up, serve and impact their community in positive ways,
• Serve as an advocate for education to the youth, by offering tutoring and workshops.
CryOut! does this through their school program, music, dance, visual arts, education, workshops, an afterschool program, and tutoring.
The vanpool program provides mobility for a diverse array of King County residents, supports the positive work of various local organizations, and relieves traffic congestion by reducing the need for single-occupancy vehicles. Interested organizations can contact Councilmember Dunn for more information on applying for a vehicle.
