The variety of programming on King County TV reflects the range of regional and local issues facing King County government, and the public services it provides – from transportation and public health to criminal justice and environmental protection.

King County TV produces original programming on county issues and services and provides transparency into the proceedings of the Metropolitan King County Council and the regional committees that advise the Council, as well as the regional boards on which members sit such as Sound Transit and the King County Board of Health.

King County TV is a government access channel granted to the County under franchise agreements regulated under federal law.It is an agency within the legislative branch of county government. It is overseen by the County Council, with guidance provided by the Citizens Advisory Committee and the King County TV Working Group. Programming decisions are based on content and relevance to the work of the County, with final decisions resting with Station Manager Kimberly Hill
