- Review the Adopt-A-Road Program Overview to see if the program would be a good match for your volunteer group.
- Complete an Application Form and send it to us using the contact information at the bottom of this page. Feel free to call or e-mail first to discuss road availability.
- Once your adoption request is approved, you will receive a program orientation packet that walks you through the steps to register your group with the program.
- After your group has completed the first cleanup, fill out and return a Recognition Sign Request Form.
Organize your cleanup
- Select your preferred date(s).
- At least two weeks in advance, call the Adopt-A-Road Program Coordinator to check the availability of safety kits for your preferred date(s).
- After your date is confirmed with the Adopt-A-Road Program Coordinator, you can reserve your safety kit(s). You will also receive a roster of your group volunteers who have registered with the program and are eligible to participate in the cleanup event.
- Each safety kit includes materials for up to ten people. Reserve as many kits as needed to ensure all volunteers will have materials available.
Pick up your safety kit(s)
- Pick up your safety kit(s) from a specified maintenance office location.
Before your clean-up
- Review the Adopt-A-Road Safety Rules with your volunteers at or prior to the clean-up event.
- Watch the Volunteer Safety Training Video.
- Ensure all volunteers are listed on the Group Active Participant Roster. Anyone not listed on the roster is not authorized to participate in the cleanup.
- Have all volunteers sign the Work Day Release Form before the cleanup begins.
After your clean-up
- Return the safety kit(s) in good condition within two business days of your cleanup so that others may use them.
- Mail or scan and email your Work Day Release form to the Adopt-A-Road office.
