Fuel filters

Disposal guidance for households

sometimes hazardous

  Disposal requirements vary

Dispose used fuel filters in the garbage after you drain the fuel from them.

  • Turn the filter upside down to drain the fuel into an airtight container. Dispose of the waste and bring it to your preferred hazardous waste collection site (eligible businesses only).
  • Allow the drained filter to dry out for two days and dispose of dry, drained fuel filters in the garbage.

If the fuel cannot be drained from the filter, take it to one of the household hazardous waste collection sites.
