About the report

In 1997, the Washington state legislature adopted the Buildable Lands amendment to the Growth Management Act.

It requires 7 Washington counties and their cities to determine what land suits urban development. They also evaluate the capacity for growth based on the measurement of recent development activity.

Note: The 2021 Countywide Planning Policies were amended to establish growth targets for Sammamish. The targets are based on growth capacity assumptions different from those in the 2021 Urban Growth Capacity Report. Updated capacity assumptions are available from the Sammamish planning staff.
