Perry to chair Local Services & Land Use Committee in 2024

January 9, 2024

As part of the King County Council’s approved reorganization motion, Councilmember Sarah Perry, District 3, will Chair the Local Services and Land Use Committee this year.

Perry will also serve as Vice Chair of the Health and Human Services Committee, will serve on the Budget and Fiscal Management Committee and Committee of the Whole, and will serve as Vice Chair of the Flood Control District.

“Our Local Services and Land Use Committee has a big year ahead as the County updates its Comprehensive Plan, shaping how we plan for a productive and healthy future. This work reflects my continued commitment to environmental preservation, affordable housing every at income level, and social service access,” Perry said. “I look forward to leading this update while paying attention to community safety, economic opportunity, and much more through my additional committee assignments. I’m excited to work closely with all those who are interested in these areas as we work toward a great future for all!”

Local Services & Land Use considers policy related to water supply, unincorporated and rural areas, local government, permitting and zoning, county roads and bridges, levies to support county roads and bridges, emergency management, annexations, local parks and trails, housing, water and sewer district plans, growth management including regional planning, countywide planning policies and the Comprehensive Plan, and resource lands, including agricultural, forestry and mineral resources.
