Transfer station recycling
King County residents and businesses who do not have recycling or yard waste curbside collection service, as well as those who do but have items not accepted by collection services, can bring accepted recyclable and compostable materials to most King County recycling and transfer stations.
Recycling services vary by facility. See the recycling guide Download PDF 1.5 MB K for King County Recycling & Transfer Facilities or, for Vashon Recycling & Transfer Station, see this recycling guide Download PDF 1.5 MB K.
Corrugated cardboard, scrap metal, yard waste, and clean wood (untreated, unpainted wood) are NOT accepted in garbage at facilities that provide recycling for those materials. Customers must place those materials in designated recycling bins or areas at the facilities where those materials can be recycled. There is no fee to recycle corrugated cardboard or scrap metal. The fee for yard waste and clean wood is less than the garbage fee.
