Mpox treatment
Currently there is no treatment approved specifically for mpox virus infections. However, antivirals developed for use in patients with smallpox may prove beneficial against mpox. Tecovirimat (TPOXX) is an antiviral medication that is approved for the treatment of smallpox and is available from the CDC/National Stockpile for the treatment of mpox in adults and children during an outbreak.
If you’ve been diagnosed with mpox, talk to your primary care provider about whether TPOXX or other treatment options are right for you.
