9-1-1 Operator Qualifications

The basic qualifications to become a 9-1-1 Communications Specialist are as follows: 
  • You need to be a lawful permanent resident or citizen of the United States at the time of application 
  • Be able to read, speak, and write English fluently 
  • Minimum 18 years old 
  • Type 35 words per minute 
  • Possess multi-tasking skills 
  • Flexible with schedule assignments
