Effective immediately:

In accordance with Proclamation 20-28 issued March 24th, 2020 by Governor Jay Inslee and as a proactive measure to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the King County Sheriff's Office is prohibited from any in-person contacts with the public related to the Public Records Act (PRA) RCW 42.56.

What this means: No In-Person PRA Business. PRA business contacts that are temporarily on hold at this time include permitting a requestor to walk into an agency office or facility during customary business hours to:  submit a PRA request, physically inspect records or agency PRA procedures, copy records, and do other walk-in activities during business hours such as pay for and/or pick up copies of records.

Requesters are encouraged to use alternative communication methods for PRA business such as one of the methods below or by other communication methods that do not require in-person contact with agency staff:
