People who live, work or go to school in Sammamish are invited to take a survey about community transportation needs that aren’t being met by regular bus service.

Metro launched the survey to identify gaps that could be filled through its Alternative Services Program, which partners with communities to design customized transportation solutions in parts of King County where fixed-route bus service doesn’t meet all of the community’s transit needs.

The survey is online through Jan. 25, and people can request paper copies in English and Traditional Chinese by calling 206-263-9768.

Alternative Services can include routes with flexible service areas, operated through a Metro/community partnership, or options such as community vans, shuttles, or on-demand ridesharing. Metro has already launched demonstration projects in Duvall and Snoqualmie, and is moving forward with another project on Vashon Island.

The survey results will help Metro better understand what transportation services could enhance community mobility in Sammamish in the future.

Metro will also use the results to come up with a range of possible transportation service alternatives for public review in another survey coming in early 2017.
