Councilmember Bob Ferguson welcomes new constituents to King County Council District 1

Summary

Committee finalizes new map for County Council Districts

Story

Under the final map adopted by the King County Districting Committee, Metropolitan King County Council District 1 will welcome residents from several north Seattle neighborhoods and east King County communities.

Adopted November 15 by the Districting Committee – the panel responsible for redrawing King County Council Districts every 10 years using U.S. Census data – the new boundaries for District 1 add areas of north Seattle, Woodinville, and Kirkland. The new additions become part of a district that includes northeast Seattle, Shoreline, Lake Forest Park, Kenmore, and Bothell. Over 214,000 residents live in the area.

Councilmember Bob Ferguson, who represents District 1 on the King County Council, is looking forward to working with the new communities in his district.

“It is an honor to serve the people of District 1, and I am eager to hear from residents about what matters to them,” said Ferguson. “I look forward to discussing the work I have been doing on the Council to protect community safety, serve our veterans, and keep our region’s economy moving.”

Ferguson is a Northwest native and graduate of the University of Washington. He worked as director of an emergency services center and then pursued his legal degree. Ferguson clerked for two federal judges and worked at a Seattle law firm before being elected to the King County Council in 2003. He lives in Seattle’s Maple Leaf neighborhood with his wife Colleen and their three-year-old twins, Jack and Kate, who recently started preschool.

“It is important to me that I keep the lines of communication open with the people I represent,” said Ferguson. “I encourage folks to visit my website, where you can sign-up for my monthly e-News, or to give me a call or email.”
