Council accepting applications for vacancy in King County District Court

Summary

Story

The Metropolitan King County Council is now accepting applications from those interested in filling a vacancy in the West Division of the King County District Court.

Those interested in serving as a district court judge must be a registered voter of the judicial electoral district (City of Seattle) and a lawyer admitted to practice law in the state of Washington.

Those interested in applying are asked to submit their name to a bar association with an established judicial candidate evaluation procedure, or to the Clerk of the King County Council. In addition, each applicant must complete the evaluation process of at least one bar association that performs judicial evaluations consistent with the provisions of the King County Code.

The Council shall consider for appointment those candidates referred by the bar associations.

Candidate evaluations by bar associations must be completed by April 30, 2012, so application questionnaires must be returned to a bar association no later than 4:30 p.m., February 21, 2012.
