County Council and County Executive express their condolences on the passing of Deputy County Auditor Ron Perry

Summary

Story

The Chair and Vice Chairs of the Metropolitan King County Council were joined by the King County Executive today in mourning the passing of Deputy County Auditor Ron Perry.

“Ron’s work as the Deputy County Auditor has had an impact on all the people of King County,” said Council Chair Larry Gossett. “As a member of the County’s legislative branch, we have lost an outstanding staff person whose contribution has led to improvements to many King County departments. Personally, we lost a good friend and colleague. The County Council sends its sympathy to Ron’s family and friends.”

“Ron’s public service has tremendously benefited the residents of King County, and I am honored to have worked with him for more than a decade,” said Council Vice Chair Julia Patterson. “His wealth of knowledge, professional excellence and pleasant demeanor will be greatly missed by employees throughout King County government. Our thoughts are with Ron’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.”

“We have lost a great public servant and a true gentleman,” said Council Vice Chair Jane Hague.

“I’m so saddened by the loss of our friend and fellow employee, Ron,” said King County Executive Dow Constantine. “Ron was instrumental in advancing the work of the County around performance management while I was a Councilmember, and he continued that partnership with staff in our Executive Office. I know he’ll be remembered fondly for his legacy of public service and kindness.”

As Deputy County Auditor, Perry supervised teams that audited a variety of subjects including performance audits of the King County Sheriff’s Office, and one on Metro Transit which identified millions of dollars in cost savings and cost avoidances for that agency.

Perry assisted in the development of landmark legislation establishing a countywide system of strategic planning, performance management, and reporting, which led to the first-ever countywide strategic plan for King County.
