County Council gives it unanimous approval to the new name for Fire District

Summary

Fire district 44 to become Mountain View Fire and Rescue

Story

For the last two decades, King County Fire District 44 has been called Mountain View Fire and Rescue. Today the Metropolitan King County Council gave its unanimous approval to officially renaming the Fire District as Mountain View Fire and Rescue.

“Officially changing the name from Fire District 44 to Mountain View Fire and Rescue has been a long time in coming,” said Reagan Dunn, the sponsor of the ordinance.  “Mountain View Fire and Rescue does an outstanding job serving the residents of the district and I am happy to support this legislation per the request of their board of commissioners.”

“We protect 70 square miles serving Auburn, Kent, Black Diamond and Enumclaw addresses,” said District Chief Greg Smith. “Although we have been using the name Mountain View for twenty years, this will now make that name official.”

The proposal to change the name of Fire District 44 was first proposed in June of this year by the Commissioners of the District. This name change will be in the best interest of the area they serve and will make the district more recognizable to the residents of the Fire District.
